Star Trek: Starfleet Academy has just cast its first round of cadets for the upcoming Star Trek series. Kerrice Brooks (My Old Ass), Bella Shepard (Wolf Pack) and George Hawkins (Tell Me Everything) will star alongside Holly Hunter and Paul Giamatti in the series.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will follow “a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.”
There is no information on the cadets the trio will play as of yet. However, the previously announced Hunter will star as Starfleet Academy’s chancellor while Giamatti will be the series’ villain, a mysterious man whose past is connected to one of the Academy’s new students.
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau will serve as showrunners and executive producers Star Trek: Starfleet Academy with Gaia Violo having written the pilot episode as well as executive produce. Also serving as executive producers are Aaron Baiers, Olatunde Osunsanmi, Jenny Lumet, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Frank Siracusa and John Weber.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy will begin production in Toronto this summer.
