Joey King seeks a more beautiful future in trailer for Netflix sci-fi Uglies

August 9, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Netflix has released the trailer for Uglies, their Joey King-led science-fiction drama based on Scott Westerfeld’s 2005 sci-fi novel of the same name, which is set in a world in where cosmetic surgery is imposed on everyone when they reach the age of 16.

Directed by McG (Terminator: Salvation), Uglies also stars Keith Powers (The Tomorrow War), Chase Stokes (Outer Banks), Brianne Tju (47 Metres Down: Uncaged), Jan Luis Castellanos (The Runaways), Charmin Lee (The 5th Wave) and Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black). Check out the poster and trailer below…

“In a futuristic world that imposes a cosmetic surgery at 16, Tally is eager for her turn to join the rest of society. But when a friend runs away, Tally embarks on a journey to save her that upends everything she thought she wanted.”

Uglies premieres on Netflix on September 13th.
