Detective horror Nowhere gets trailer and playable demo

August 14, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer Midnight Forge has announced that a playable demo for their upcoming Nordic detective horror tale Nowhere will be available to download from Steam on Thursday 15th August.  To coincide with this news, Midnight Forge has released a new trailer (see below) that offers a glimpse into the horrors that await those who take on this case.

Nowhere is a hardcore detective horror game set deep in the forests of Norway but there’s more to the game than just lots of Norway Spruces as players will also encounter a supernatural and unique spin on Norse mythology.

Players will step into the sturdy hiking shoes of a detective on the search for a group of tourists that have vanished in the forest, but it soon becomes obvious that there is much more to their disappearance then originally thought.  As the case takes a supernatural twist, it isn’t long before the detective is piecing together the tragic story of the gods after Ragnarök.

The upcoming demo will allow players to experience 20-30 minutes of Nowhere, and will have the opportunity to investigate multiple sites of interest as they gather clues as to the whereabouts of the missing tourists.  Players may also have the chance to encounter the unimaginable horrors that lurk in the shadows of this ancient forest.

Nowhere features:

  • A unique tale of Norse mythology that delves into the impact caused by a new religion during the Viking era and what became of the Norse gods in their final years of being worshipped.
  • A blend of detective mystery and survival horror where fear and dread have players on the edge of their seats.
  • A non-linear open world where players can investigate numerous creepy locations at their own pace and in their own order.
  • Search for clues, conduct an investigation and draw upon your own conclusions.
  • Players will encounter a dynamic shifting environment where the forest becomes a nightmare version of itself and Draugrs are on the hunt.

The Nowhere demo will be available on Steam on 15th August with the game releasing fully in early 2025.
