Barry Keoghan joins the Peaky Blinders movie

August 29, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Barry Keoghan is the latest actor heading to the cobbled midland streets of 1930s England for the much anticipated Peaky Blinders movie.

Per The Hollywood Reporter Keoghan will join original cast member and Academy Award-winning Oppenheimer star Cillian Murphy, as well as the recently announced Rebecca Ferguson (Dune).

Peaky Blinders is based on the real Peaky Blinders gang run by the Shelby crime family in Birmingham. The series follows Murphy’s Thomas Shelby, the leader of the flat-cap wearing clan, in the aftermath of World War I and his rise through both the criminal and political ranks. The series premiered in 2013 and ran for six seasons, ending in 2022.

The Peaky Blinders movie is being described as a continuation of the series, but plot details and what role Keoghan might be playing are being kept under wraps by Netflix.

Peaky Blinders has been written by series creator Steven Knight and produced by Netflix and BBC Film. Knight will produce with Murphy, Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley while Harper will executive produce alongside David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren and David Mason.
