Only Murders in the Building renewed for fifth season

September 5, 2024 by Ricky Church

Though the fourth season of Only Murders in the Building just premiered last week with a new episode yesterday, Hulu has already renewed the hit comedy mystery series for a fifth season.

Only Murders in the Building stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as a trio of residents in a New York apartment complex who begin a true crime podcast after one of their fellow residents is murdered. The series premiered in 2021 and has followed a new case each season as Charles, Oliver and Mabel become entangled in several murder investigations.

The fourth season picks up from the third season cliffhanger after Sazz Pataki, guest star Jane Lynch and Charles’ stunt double, was shot and murdered in his apartment, though it remains unknown if the shooter believed she was Charles or if she was the intended target. The trio’s investigation takes them to Hollywood and the Arconia’s west building, where we will meet a new batch of residents and suspects.

“In season four of “Only Murders in the Building”, our amateur podcasting trio wrestles with the shocking events at the end of season three surrounding Charles’ stunt double & friend Sazz Pataki. Questioning whether she or Charles was the intended victim, their investigation leads them all the way to Los Angeles where a Hollywood studio is readying a film about the Only Murders podcast. As Charles, Oliver & Mabel race back to New York, they embark on an even more epic journey — traversing their building’s courtyard to delve into the twisted lives of the Arconia’s West Tower residents.”

Starring regular podcast pals Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, the trio are joined in season four by Michael Cyril Creighton, Meryl Streep, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Molly Shannon, Kumail Nanjiani, Melissa McCarthy, Richard Kind, and more.

Only Murders in the Building airs on Tuesdays on Hulu and Disney+.
