Following Donald Duck’s adventures as Wolverine and Thor and Minnie Mouse taking flight as Captain Marvel, Marvel Comics has officially announced its next Disney What If…? mash-up will see Mickey and Goofy getting in on the action as the four Disney icons are reimagined as Marvel’s First Family in What If…? Mickey and Friends Became the Fantastic Four.
Written by Steve Behling and Riccardo Secchi with art from Lorenzo Pastrovicchio, the one-shot will pay homage to the landmark Fantastic Four #1 from Stan Lee and Jack Kirby as the age of heroes begins anew with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald embarking on a fateful space voyage that will ultimately gift their unique abilities and send them head first into their first superhero battle against the Mole Man.
Mickey has stretching powers! Minnie can turn invisible! Goofy can burst into flame! Donald has become some kind of rocky…THING! With these incredible powers they vow to help those in need as — the FANTASTIC FOUR. And they’ll need all their awesome abilities if they are to succeed in their first mission together to stop Mole Pete from destroying Duckburg! But how did they get their super-powers?
