Freddie Prinze Jr. confirmed to return for new I Know What You Did Last Summer

September 24, 2024 by Ricky Church

The new installment of I Know What You Did Last Summer will officially see one returning face from the original film. According to Deadline, Freddie Prinze Jr. is now set to reprise his role as Ray Bronson in the Jennifer Kaytin Robinson-directed film.

I Know What You Did Last Summer follows a group of teenagers who were part of a tragic hit-and-run and covered it up. One year later they are each stalked by a man wielding a hook who claims to know what they did and is out for revenge. It was released in 1997 and was followed by a sequel in 1998, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

The cast for the new I Know What You Did Last Summer includes Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers and Jonah Haur-King.

The plot is being kept under wraps, but original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Prinze Jr have been negotiating their returns for several weeks. With Prinze officially coming back now, it likely won’t be long before we hear if Hewitt will make a return as well.

The film will be directed by Robinson from a script written by her and Sam Lansky from a draft by Leah McKendrick. Neal Moritz will produce.

I Know What You Did Last Summer will be released July 18th, 2025.
