Doctor Who’s epic finale of Dark Gallifrey: The War Master now available from Big Finish

September 25, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish Productions has released the finale to their second trilogy of the Dark Gallifrey series, titled The War Master – Part Three.  Starring James Marsters, Jonathon Carley and the wonderful Sir Derek Jacobi, The War Master – Part Three continues from the end of Part Two with the Master and Captain John Hart trapped on the very dangerous alternate version of the Time Lord’s homeworld.

The Master and Captain John Hart trapped in the ruins of Dark Gallifrey, the alternate version of the Time Lord’s planet.  It is a place where the pair are confronted with many familiar faces and infinite impossibilities.  Although the ultimate weapon is almost within the Master’s grasp there is just one last opponent in his way, the War Doctor.  With the War Doctor entering the fray, will the Master’s plans come to fruition, and will any of them escape the chaos of Dark Gallifrey.

In this epic finale, James Marsters plays Captain John Hart, Sir Derek Jacobi stars as the Master and Jonathon Carley is the War Doctor.  Joining them are  Jason Forbes ( as the Cardinal, Chris Lew Kum Hoi as the President, Tariyé Peterside as the Imbomination and Homer Todiwala as a very unusual TARDIS.

Actor Jonathon Carley said: “In terms of great antagonists, it’s really two for the price of one. When I was first contacted about this story and told Captain John was in it, I thought ‘Oh wow!’ And then to have the classic pairing of the Doctor versus the Master is the icing on the cake. A lot of listeners have wanted to see the War Doctor face the War Master for some time and it’s brilliant that we’re able to touch upon that in a way that I don’t think anyone will predict.”

Dark Gallifrey: The War Master – Part Three is now available to own for £10.99 (Collector’s Edition CD + download) or £8.99 (download only). Alternatively, Big Finish listeners can pre-order a multi-buy bundle comprising all six of 2024’s Dark Gallifrey instalments (The War Master Parts One to Three, plus the previous trilogy, Morbius Parts One to Three) for £60 (Collector’s Edition CD + download) or £50 for the download only.
