Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried set for Paul Feig thriller The Housemaid

October 8, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

Lionsgate has assembled an impressive triumvirate for their thriller The Housemaid, with Paul Feig set to direct Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried in an adaptation of the New York Times bestseller of the same name.

Deadline reports that the Bridesmaids‘ director will adapt Freida McFadden’s novel, working from a screenplay by Archive 81‘s Rebecca Sonnenshine.

The Housemaid centers around the main character of Millie (Sweeney), who secures a job as a maid for the affluent Winchester family after being hired on the spot by Nina (Seyfried), the wife. Millie moves into their mansion, living in the attic bedroom, but before long the dream job turns into a nightmare as secrets spill out and she discovers her room only locks from the outside.

The novel holds a number of literary records, having been on the Amazon bestsellers list for nearly 100 weeks, the New York Times list for well over a year, and is only second behind the Harry Potter series on Kindle’s most-read list.

Next up for Paul Feig is another Lionsgate offering, as he reteams with the similarly impressive headline duo of Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick for A Simple Favor 2.
