Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood to star in NBC drama Duo

December 8, 2024 by Ricky Church

Married couple Melissa Benoist and Chris Wood are set to star alongside each other again in Duo, an upcoming drama series for NBC with Rina Mimoun (The Girls on the Bus) as showrunner.

When a soft-spoken, blue-collar worker (Wood) and a magnetic performer (Benoist) looking for her next break unexpectedly cross paths, their fateful meeting leads to a partnership that changes them both forever. The project is described as a family drama centered around a new two-person band and the disruption their rapidly rising career has on both their lives and the lives of those closest to them.

Benoist and Wood met on Supergirl, which Benoist led as Kara Danvers/Supergirl for the six seasons it ran on CBS and The CW. Wood was introduced in the second season and played Mon-El, a Daxamite distantly related to Kryptonians, where he and Kara began a relationship. Wood returned in the third season and again as a guest star further in the series and other Arrowverse shows. The two began dating while Supergirl was in production and later married.

Benoist most recently starred in Max’s political journalist series The Girls on the Bus, which only ran for one season before Max cancelled it. Mimoun served as an executive producer and showrunner on the series where she met Benoist.

Duo has been written by Wood and he will co-executive produce. Mimoun will executive produce with Benoist, the latter through her company Three Things Productions. Warner Bros. will oversee production.
