Fight the Alvarez Empire with the Fairy Tale 2 launch trailer

December 13, 2024 by Andrew Newton

KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Gust have today released their epic new action RPG Fairy Tail 2 on Playstation 5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam. This sequel to the 2020 game, takes players to the climax of the Alvarez Empire Arc.  Check out the launch trailer below, plus a new piece of artwork by Hiro Mashima, creator of the original Fairy Tail 2 manga and anime series.

Fairy Tail 2 features an original story, Key to the Unknown, that will allow fans to discover new events that take place after the final battle.  Players will be able to explore iconic locations from the anime and manga, take on a variety of quests and encounter a number of unexpected characters across four exclusive chapters.

Taking the roles of the Fairy Tail guild, such as Lucy and Natsu, players can explore the Kingdom of Fiore to their heart’s content while at the same time keeping a watchful eye for Zeref, the Spriggan Emperor, his team of elites, the Spriggan 12 and the Black Dragon Acnologia.

The first DLC for Fairy Tail 2 will be arriving on 23rd December and feature the costumes ‘Special Outfit: Complete Set’ and ‘Erza Outfit: Miss FAIRY TAIL Contest’. Additional DLC will come next year and include the ‘Bonus Scenario: Fairy Tail Hot Springs’ and other items, such as ‘Outfit Set: Swimsuit’.

A Season Pass is also available and will include a bonus scenario, an arena where users can re-challenge bosses, more playable characters, alternative costumes for Erza and Wendy and much more.

Fairy Tail 2 is available in a number of different editions – a standard physical and digital edition, a Digital Deluxe edition, which includes costumes in collaboration with the Atelier Ryza series, a bonus feature, ‘Atelier Lucy’ and some useful in-game items.  There are also two special physical editions, these are:

  • The Fairy Tail 2 Guild Box – Featuring the base game, an original illustration B2 cloth poster, ‘Sorcerer Magazine Special Issue: Game Release Edition Vol.2’ – inspired by the first issue released in the original Fairy Tail game, a special holographic shikishi and an original soundtrack CD.
  • The Fairy Tail 2 Combo Set – Includes all the above with the addition of a special illustrated canvas art with printed autograph of Hiro Mashima and a B2 Tapestry featuring artwork selected by Hiro Mashima.

Those who purchase any edition of the game before 6th January 2025 will receive the ‘Miss FAIRY TAIL Contest‘ costume for Lucy.

FAIRY TAIL 2 is available now on PS4/5, Nintendo Switch and Steam.
