RailGods of Hysterra trailer shows off hunting and sacrifice

January 9, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Troglobytes Games and publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment have released a brand-new trailer for their upcoming Lovecraftian survival game RailGods of Hysterra.  This latest trailer dives into the important task of keeping the RailGod fueled up by hunting down, trapping and sacrificing monsters summoned by the Great Old Ones.  Watch the new trailer below….

Mutated croc’ for the RailGod’s tea tonight.

To survive the apocalyptic Lovecraftian nightmare that are the Wastelands of Hysterra, players have to keep the titular RailGod powered up. Keeping a celestial locomotive fueled isn’t as simple as chucking some coal into the fire, the RailGod requires the sacrifice of the strange creatures brought into the world by the Great Old Ones.  It’s up to players to seek out these dangerous creatures in the wasteland, capture them and return them to the RailGod to be sacrificed and consumed.  Not only does this keep this sentient amalgam of steel and flesh powered up, it also helps build a bond between engine and player in the battle against the ancient, malevolent gods.

A couple of fish blokes have brought pointy sticks to a gun fight.

Players who jump into the twisted world of RailGods of Hysterra will be able to expand their locomotive with additional carriages by scouring the wasteland.  These can then be used to store goods, used as cells for captured creatures for later sacrifice or as a place to keep workstations.  These workstations can be used to craft new gear and powerful weapons that can be used to enhance character attributes.

A hungry engine is an unhappy engine. Get out there and hunt down some grub.

Survivors can be equipped with a variety of skill sets and can grow stronger by levelling up and earning GodKeeper abilities.  When surviving alongside other players, survivors can create separate builds that work well together in combat.

RailGods of Hysterra will be arriving on Steam Early Access later this year.
