Roguelite hack ‘n’ slash Warriors: Abyss hits PC and consoles

February 13, 2025 by Andrew Newton

KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Omega Force have released their latest title in their classic Warriors franchise, Warriors: Abyss on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S (Nintendo Switch version releases on 14th Feb’). This roguelite hack ’n’ slash game sends players to Hell where they are challenged with defeating a greater evil.  Watch the new trailer….

Warriors: Abyss sees players summoned to Hell by Enma, the King of the Underworld, where they are tasked with defeating the devilish Gouma.  Players will dive into the Abyss and make their way to the fourth level of Hell, fighting hordes of infernal demons as they go.  Fortunately, the souls of past heroes can be found and recruited to the team to help make the task easier.

To reach Gouma, players will have to select the route they want to take while taking into consideration the various obstacles that will await them on that path.  Players can choose more dangerous routes that will generously reward them or take a safer path giving them a chance for gaining some restorative items.  Each attempt to reach the fourth level of Hell will be different with randomly generated heroes, items etc.

Six additional heroes will be able to be summoned to help them in battle using the “Summoning Heroes”action.  Once a hero has been summoned, players will be able to use their unique tactics to cause huge amounts of damage to their enemies or strengthen their team. With the amount of heroes and abilities there are, the developers say there are more than 16 billion possible attack combinations.

New characters will be arriving for free after the launch and the first update will include from the Jin Kingdom of the Dynasty Warriors series.

Warriors: Abyss can be purchased in Standard, Deluxe and “Hack’n’Dash” Editions and those who do so before 14th March will receive the “Dynasty Warriors Classic Costume Set” as a bonus, featuring characters such as Guan Yu and Zhou Yu in outfits from the original Dynasty Warriors game.
