David Dastmalchian joins Dexter: Resurrection

March 15, 2025 by Ricky Church

Showtime’s upcoming Dexter continuation Dexter: Resurrection has gained another cast member for its growing ensemble with David Dastmalchian (Late Night With the Devil) the latest to join the Michael C. Hall-led series.

Details on Dastmalchian’s character are being kept under wraps, save for his name being Gareth. He joins the recently cast Neil Patrick Harris (The Matrix Resurrections) and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) in the series.

Little is known of the story, but it will pick up from the conclusion of Dexter: New Blood where Dexter was shot by his son Harrison and thought to have died, but as the opening scene of the prequel Dexter: Original Sin showed us, he was taken to a hospital and in the middle of surgery to save of his – and presumably face justice for his many crimes.

Peter Dinklage is also starring in the season as its main antagonist, a billionaire with a dark side he keeps hidden. Reports have suggested fellow stars Krysten Ritter, Harris and Stonestreet are all playing serial killers so it is possibly Dastmalchian will also be a serial killer and potential victim for Dexter’s table.

Dexter: Resurrection is created, showrun and executive produced by original Dexter creator Clyde Phillips with Hall also serving as an executive producer. It is currently filming in New York City with an expected summer premiere on Showtime and Paramount+.

Alongside Michael C. Hall, returning Dexter stars include David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott as Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan and James Remar as Dexter’s father Harry Morgan. New additions also include Uma Thurman as Charley, Peter Dinklage as Leon Prater, Krysten Ritter as Mia Lapierre, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine as Blessing Kamara, Kadia Saraf as Detective Claudette Wallace, Dominic Fumusa as Detective Melvin Oliva, Emilia Suárez as Elsa Rivera, Neil Patrick Harris as Lowell and Eric Stonestreet as Al.
