Sam Mendes’ The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event sets cast, release dates

April 3, 2025 by Gary Collinson

A little over a year after it was first announced that filmmaker Sam Mendes (American Beauty, 1917) was developing four separate movies based around The Beatles, Sony has now officially announced the release dates for The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event as well as unveiling the actors who’ll be bringing the Fab Four to life.

Appearing at this week’s CinemaCon event during Sony’s presentation, Sam Mendes officially introduced his cast – which, if you’ve been keeping tabs on the project, will come as little surprise: Harris Dickinson (Babygirl) as John Lennon, Paul Mescal (Gladiator II) as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as George Harrison and Barry Keoghan (Saltburn) as Ringo Starr.

As well as confirming the cast, it was announced that all four films will be released in cinemas in April 2028, in what Mendes called the first “bingeable moment in cinema”. Whether that means a simultaneous release for all four films, or a weekly roll-out throughout the month, we shall have to wait and see.
