Zombie base-builder Final Outpost: Definitive Edition gets release date and trailer

April 24, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Exabyte Games has announced that they will release their upcoming zombie strategy base-builder Final Outpost: Definitive Edition on 22nd May. Accompanying this announcement is a new trailer showing what players can expect to face in their struggle to survive.

The original game has amassed more than 1,000,000 downloads since it was released in 2020, and this new Definitive Edition will bring a wealth of new features, including more difficulty modes, various game modifiers, a new building and the ability to settle new outposts. This upcoming edition will also feature a replayable meta-progression, trading system, original soundtrack and much more.

With Final Outpost: Definitive Edition, lead a group of survivors through the zombie apocalypse.  Assign jobs to the survivors and construct buildings and fortifications to protect your town from the undead hordes. There are more than 10 different jobs that can be assigned to survivors, and their skills can be upgraded to enable them to gather, defend and repair more efficiently.

Players will be able to construct and upgrade over 12 building types, including housing for the survivors, storage buildings for resources, production buildings and farms to grow wheat to overcome the dwindling deer population. These structures will help players ensure survival through droughts, harsh winters and unforgiving thunderstorms.

Zombies will be a constant thorn in the survivor’s sides and it will be vital to keep them away from the population. Players start out with just a simple knife but will be able to build up their armoury over time to include machine guns, crossbows and snipers.

Look out for Final Outpost: Definitive Edition arriving on 22nd May.
