New World of Warships update brings new game modes, Azur Lane event and a livestream

May 15, 2025 by Andrew Newton

World of Warships’ May update arrives today and with it comes two new game modes and the return of the popular Azur Lane collaboration event. World of Warships’ Longest Night of Museums also marks its fifth anniversary with the launch of the Naval Museum Atlas interactive digital platform.

On 18th May, World of Warships will host the 5th annual Longest Night of Museums livestream event, where they will commemorate the evolution of iconic warships during World War II. This year’s event introduces the Naval Museum Atlas interactive tool that rewards players for visiting museums. This year, world-renowned historian Dan Snow will face off against AI in a debate on ship evolutions.

The new update sees the arrival of a special new, game mode commemorating 85 years since 300,000 soldiers were evacuated from Dunkirk. The Operation Dynamo mode comes with a new Event Pass and where players can unlock Containers, the “Monochrome” Enemy Destruction Effect, permanent camouflages, and much more.  There’s also a new limited-time Port activity where players use cards representing the Little Ships of Dunkirk to overcome challenges and opponents. Doing this can reward players with Operation Dynamo Containers, a special “Braving the Fire Flag” and the Tier VI British destroyer Gallant.

Players will also get to try their hand at the new limited-time Perilous Route mode. This will see players escorting a damaged Command Ship to its destination whilst facing oncoming enemy ships. Command ships will need to stop twice during the escort and complete a random task before moving on. This is open to players using any Tier VIII to IX ships but no subs.

Finally, the May update also sees Azur Lane making another splash with more crossover content, Soviet subs leaving early access, the construction of Tier IX German Premium heavy cruiser Blücher 1939 in the Dockyard and new Ranked Battles and Brawls.

Set sail for more excitement in World of Warships’ May update.
