Pennywise returns in the trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry

May 20, 2025 by Matt Rodgers

HBO has reached into the stand-pipe and pulled out the first teaser trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry.

The nine-episode series has been developed for television by Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti, the duo behind the billion dollar grossing big-screen adaptation of Stephen King’s IT, who have created this new nightmare along with Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman).

Muschietti will direct the first four episodes of IT: Welcome to Derry, which stars Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, Rudy Mancuso, and sees Bill Skarsgård returning as terrifying balloon botherer Pennywise the Clown. Check out the trailer below…

“Set in the world of Stephen King’s IT universe, IT: Welcome to Derry is based on King’s IT novel and expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films IT and IT Chapter Two.”

IT: Welcome to Derry streams on HBO Max later this year.
