Marvel’s Eyes of Wakanda animated series first-look revealed as showrunner teases “Wakanda-grade James Bond”

May 28, 2025 by Gary Collinson

The long-gestating Ironheart series comes to Disney+ next month, but that’s not the only Black Panther-related spinoff we can look forward to from Marvel Studios and executive producer Ryan Coogler this summer, as Marvel’s animation division also debuts its latest offering, Eyes of Wakanda.

As revealed in a first-look feature over at Entertainment Weekly, the series is described by showrunner Todd Harris as “anthology adjacent”, with each episode occurring at a different point in time throughout the history of Wakanda that also tells a connected, overarching “globe-trotting adventure.”

“The story starts off during the end of the Western Bronze Age, and that spark sets off this giant spy-espionage story that reverberates through time,” states Harris. “You get Wakanda-grade James Bond, and sometimes a Jane Bond, with the backdrop of all the awesomeness that is Wakanda.”

Marvel Animation’s new action-adventure series ‘Eyes of Wakanda’ follows the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry-out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zaraze and this is their story.

The series features the voice talents of Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint, and Anika Noni Rose.

Eyes of Wakanda premieres on Disney+ on August 6th.
