Dystopian sci-fi A Bright Future unveils trailer ahead of Tribeca premiere

May 30, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Ahead of its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival this June, a trailer has arrived online for writer-director Lucia Garibaldi’s (The Sharks) dystopian sci-fi drama A Bright Future.

Taking place in bleak, out-of-time South American neighborhood, the film centres on a young girl (Martina Passeggi), a young woman selected for a prestigious journey to the mysterious “North”—a distant promised land no one has ever returned from, including her older sister.

Alongside Martina Passeggi, the cast also includes Soledad Pelayo, Sofía Gala Castiglione, and Alfonso Tort. Check out the trailer below…

Elisa is one of the last young women chosen to go North, a kind of promised land where history is being made. Everyone around her, including her beloved Mother, eagerly awaits her departure. But soon Elisa realizes that she does not want to leave and that simply saying so is not enough.

A Bright Future will premiere in the Viewpoints strand of the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival in June.
