It’s hell in the Pacific in trailer for Shudder’s WWII horror Monster Island

June 28, 2025 by Amie Cranswick

Shudder has shared a poster and trailer for writer-director Mike Wiluan’s upcoming creature feature Monster Island.

Set in WWII, the horror sees a Japanese soldier and a British prisoner of war (Dean Fukjioka and Callum Woodhouse) stranded on a desert island and forced to work together to survive a deadly mythological creature hunting them. Check out the trailer below…

A Japanese ship transporting prisoners of war to occupied territories for slave labor. After being torpedoed by allied submarines, a Japanese soldier and a British POW are stranded on a deserted island and soon discover that they’re being hunted by a ferocious mythological creature, the Orang Ikan. Both the soldier and POW realize that they must work together to survive the unknown, despite their differences.

Monster Island arrives on Shudder on July 25th.
