The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s most popular franchises. Created in 1986, the series follows Princess Zelda and Link, the Hero of Time, as they protect the powerful and sacred Triforce from the evil Ganon. Dozens of Zelda games have been developed over its near-40-year history with the latest games for Nintendo Switch Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom being huge hits on the system.

The Legend of Zelda will be produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures with Wes Ball (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) directing from a script by T.S. Nowlin. Miyamoto and Avi Arad will produce.

The Legend of Zelda will be released on May 7th, 2027.
