Chinese World War II drama Dongji Rescue gets a trailer and poster

Ahead of its theatrical release later this month, Well Go USA has shared a poster and trailer for the WWII drama Dongji Rescue.

The film tells the story of how a group of brave Dongji fisherman risked their lives to rescue more than 300 British soldiers, protecting them three of them from Japanese forces after the ship carrying the prisoners of war was torpedoed.

Directed by Guan Hu and Fei Zhenxiang, the film stars Zhu Yilong, Wu Lei, Ni Ni, Yang Haoyu, Chen Minghao, William Franklyn-Miller, Ni Dahong, Li Jiuxiao, and Wang Yiquan. Check out the trailer below…

In 1942, a Japanese ship carrying British prisoners of war was torpedoed. Dongji fishermen risked their lives to rescue over 300 British soldiers and protected and rescued three British individuals during a large-scale search by Japanese forces. This event is known as the “Lisbon Maru Sinking Incident.”

Dongji Rescue arrives in cinemas on August 22nd.
