Kristen Wiig joins Masters of the Universe as Roboto

August 16, 2025 by Ricky Church

With the long anticipated Masters of the Universe feature film now in post-production, The Hollywood Reporter has announced an additional cast member with Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) joining as the voice of Roboto.

Roboto is an ally of He-Man’s, who will be played by Nicholas Galitzine. Roboto was “built by Man-at-Arms, is a member of a corps known as the Heroic Warriors.” They have a unique appearance to other Masters of the Universe characters as they are “a transparent metal body allowing one to see the inner workings inside. Roboto also has one arm that features interchangeable hands, such as a claw, laser gun, or axe.”

Masters of the Universe is based on the popular 1980s Mattel toyline which spawned the animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe as well as the original live-action feature film which starred Dolph Lundgren as He-Man and Frank Langella as the evil Skeletor.

A new Masters of the Universe film has been in various stages of production for several years with Noah Centineo attached at one point to play He-Man. The film will be directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) from a script by Chris Butler. Mattel Studios, Amazon MGM and Escape Artists are producing.

Masters of the Universe will feature Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man alongside Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Skeletor, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, Morena Baccarin as The Sorceress, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena and Kristen Wiig as the voice of Roboto.

Masters of the Universe is set for release on June 5th 2026.
