Eric Roberts’ Master and Paul McGann’s Doctor rematch in Doctor Who: Dark Gallifrey: Master!

September 19, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish has released Dark Gallifrey: Master! – Part Three, the new chapter in the latest Dark Gallifrey saga, scripted by Lizzie Hopley. This latest Doctor Who audio release brings an explosive conclusion as the Master (Eric Roberts) faces his oldest adversary, with Paul McCann reprising his role as the Eighth Doctor for a reunion from the 1996 film.

In the past two parts, listeners have followed the Master as he’s taken a class of students from Time Lord Academy into the psychic forest to perform cruel experiments and seen the surviving students being preyed upon by a creature from Gallifreyan legend. Now, the Master must face his most meddlesome opponent, the Doctor.

The last survivors of the Master’s experiment are struggling to find their way through a fractured landscape and avoid the threat of the Doctor, whilst in the present, Gamara must face the consequences of her buried secrets as she prepares to face the monstrous Mother Quiver. Meanwhile, the Doctor is doing what he can to put a spanner in the works of one of the Master’s most evil schemes.
