Sacha Dhawan’s The Master is back in a new Worlds of Doctor Who adventure

September 26, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Big Finish has released a new full-cast audio drama in its The Worlds of Doctor Who series, bringing back the Master. Sacha Dhawan returns as the chaos-causing villain, making enemies and allies along the way. Fans of Sacha Dhawan can even watch a new behind-the-scenes video below, where he takes viewers into the recording studio at Big Finish.

With the Doctor occupied with other adventures elsewhere in time and space, the universe is the Master’s playground, but with so many evil and brutal creatures out there, is the Master still the greatest monster of them all? This latest box set brings three brand-new adventures for the renegade Time Lord.

In The Craft of Corruption by Alison Winter, the Master takes a position as a ship’s counsellor on an interstellar cruise liner within the jurisdiction of the Interstellar Protection Corps. All he needs to do is stay out of trouble until the ship leaves their space, but with the Master, trouble always finds him.

The Master takes on a companion in The Ideal Quarry by Jody Houser. Wanting to lessen his boredom, the Master starts to travel with the disgraced Sontaran Vegg, who is keen to get home for his execution, but it isn’t long before they become marooned on a world and become the quarry for some unusual hunters.

Finally, in Reformation by Lisa McMullin, the Master is captured and placed in a reformation chamber, a place where only his own moral conscience can free him. Does the Master have a conscience, and if so, what will it take for his conscience to free him?

From L to R: Lisa McMullin, Daisy Head, Sacha Dhawan, Jonathan S Powell, Benji Clifford

Joining Sacha Dhawan is Dan Starkey as the Sontaran warrior Vegg, Jacqueline King as the lupine predator Sir Florencia Fang, Daisy Head as prisoner Renata, Anna Spearpoint, Kitty O’Sullivan, Mark Elstob, Tom Kiteley, and Rameet Rauli.
