Daredevil: Born Again season 2 premiere date and Matthew Lillard’s role revealed

October 17, 2025 by Ricky Church

The second season of Daredevil: Born Again has a release date. Featuring Charlie Cox as the title hero and Vincent D’Onofrio as his nemesis Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, the series will return on March 4th, 2026.

Daredevil: Born Again is a continuation of Netflix’s Daredevil series and sees Cox’s Matt Murdock retiring from his role as Hell’s Kitchen’s protector after a personal tragedy. He is forced to come out of retirement when D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk resurfaces and becomes New York City’s new mayor, bringing his corrupt brand of power to City Hall.

The first season ended with Fisk making a power grab for total control of New York’s government, declaring martial law and outlawing masked vigilantism with his task force of corrupt cops taking Frank Castle/The Punisher prisoner and putting Daredevil on the run.

While little is known of the second season, we do know Krysten Ritter will be making her return to the MCU as private investigator Jessica Jones after playing her in for three seasons in the Netflix series and the crossover The Defenders.

In addition to Ritter, though, we now have details on who Scream actor Matthew Lillard will be playing in Daredevil: Born Again. Over the NYCC weekend, Marvel TV head Brad Winderbaum was interviewed by EW and revealed Lillard is a new character named Mr. Charles, a major political powerbroker who will work against Fisk.

“The story is about power. When Wilson Fisk takes over New York, not just as a mayor but as a king in a way, it puts him in a new class of power players on the international stage. Matthew Lillard’s character represents that,” Winderbaum said. “So he’s a bit of a new antagonist on the field, but he’s as influential in many ways as Fisk is. That power negotiation at a very high level of politics and international diplomacy is also fun to watch. He is dealing with Mr. Charles up here and Daredevil down here for different reasons. So he’s getting squeezed a little bit.”

Daredevil: Born Again has already been renewed for a third season, ensuring fans will see more of the Man Without Fear for further adventures. Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal will return as The Punisher in his own special for Disney+ for a reported early 2026 premiere as well as next summer’s anticipated Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

In “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his own political endeavors in New York. When their past identities begin to emerge, both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course.

Daredevil: Born Again stars Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Ayelet Zurer, Jon Bernthal, Wilson Bethel with season two adding Krysten Ritter, Matthew Lillard, Lili Taylor, Sydney Parra, Annie Parisse, James Armstrong, Camila Rodriguez, Susan Veron and Royce Johnson.

Daredevil: Born Again will return March 4th, 2026.
