Outlander’s final season of past, present and forever to begin in March

November 12, 2025 by Ricky Church

The anticipated eighth and final season of Starz’s Outlander has announced a premiere date of March 6th, 2026 as the beginning of the end for the historical romance fantasy series.

Outlander is based on the books by Diana Gabaldon and developed for Starz by Ronald D. Moore. The series has followed Claire and Jamie Fraser’s romance from their meeting in 1743 Scotland at the height of the Jacobite Rebellion to the American Revolution as Claire and their family travel back and forth between the past and present.

The eighth season will see the Fraser family continue to be caught up in the Revolution as they try staying out of history’s way even as family secrets and the war threaten to tear them apart.

Though Outlander will be ending next year, the series has seen a spin-off prequel Outlander: Blood of My Blood premiere on Starz this summer. The prequel follows the story of Claire and Jamie’s parents and their respective love stories with a second season having already been renewed.

Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.

Outlander features Catríona Balfe as Claire Fraser, Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Sophie Skelton as Brianna MacKenzie, Richard Rankin as Roger MacKenzie, John Bell as Young Ian, David Berry as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart as William Ransom, Izzy Meikle-Small as Rachel Hunter and Joey Phillips as Denzell Hunter.

Outlander Season 8 will premiere on March 6th, 2026.
