The Game Changer series gets new book with more Hollander and Rozanov

January 12, 2026 by EJ Moreno

After the success of the Heated Rivalry television series, which brought more eyes to the Game Changer books, it made sense to have another installment soon.

Author Rachel Reid is striking while the iron is very hot (and steamy) and giving fans a seventh book in her long-running queer romance series, titled Unrivaled. It will bring back the fan-favorite characters Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, giving the couple a third outing in the book series following Heated Rivalry and The Long Game.

As for the story being told, well, if you don’t want any potential spoilers for season two, look away now! Unrivaled will see the hockey-playing pair newly married, openly out, and playing on the same hockey team. While it’s everything they’ve hoped for, some major hurdles still lie ahead for our duo.

The book is set for release on September 29, 2026.

Check out the official synposis and the book cover below…

A line has been drawn—and the hockey world is divided.

For the first time in their professional hockey careers, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander have nothing to hide. For more than a decade, they kept their love a secret, but now they’re out, married, and even playing on the same team. The support is incredible. Most of the time.

They’ve gotten a lot of love from fans who are thrilled for them. But some people in the hockey world are still reeling from their relationship reveal, and the backlash—led by popular hockey podcast Top Shelf and the #TakeBackHockey movement—is getting louder. Ilya and Shane are finally able to stand together in the light, the way they’d always wanted. And now they might be facing their biggest challenge yet.
