Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 moves up release date

February 24, 2026 by Ricky Church

The sequel to the 2023 animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem has received a new and slightly earlier release date. Originally scheduled for a September 17th, 2027 release, Paramount has moved it up a few weeks to August 13th.

Produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg with Jeff Rowe directing, TMNT: Mutant Mayhem followed the iconic turtles in their early-teens as they were introduced to the above-world from their sewer home. It featured Nicolas Cantu, Micah Abbey, Brady Noon and Shamon Brown Jr. as Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo with Jackie Chan as Splinter and Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil.

The sequel will see Rowe return to the director’s chair with Kyler Spears and Yashar Kassai co-directing. Rogen and Goldberg will produce alongside James Weaver, Josh Fagen and Ramsay McBean.

There is no word on the story, but the sequel will see the turtles go up against their archenemy Shredder after his tease in the final moments of the first film’s post-credits scene. It is unknown who among the cast will also return as Mutant Mayhem featured several other mutant creatures voiced by Rogen, Paul Rudd, Rose Byrne and several more.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 comes as Paramount is also developing a live-action/CGI hybrid TMNT film which is set for a 2028 release. The live-action film will be produced by Fast & Furious franchise producer Neal H. Moritz and is slated for November 17th, 2028.

The studio was also developing an R-rated feature adaptation of Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, an alternate dystopian future where the Foot Clan rules New York City and the last surviving turtle goes on a mission to put an end to them once and for all. While Paramount cancelled the movie last fall seemingly in favour of the 2028 film, Eastman recently gave some hope to fans that the project is not entirely dead and may be adapted at some point in the future.
