The Eighth Doctor encounters familiar faces in Doctor Who – Time War Uncharted: Branches

The Eighth Doctor’s Time War-era audio adventures continue as Big Finish Productions release Doctor Who – Time War Uncharted: Branches. In this latest full-cast audio drama, the Doctor is joined by many familiar faces, although not all are quite as he remembers them. There’s also an awkward family reunion in store for the Doctor and his great-grandson Alex.

The Eighth Doctor, his great-grandson Alex, and companion Cass have been making their way through a strange universe while trying to avoid the war between the Time Lords and the Daleks. During their travels, the travellers have encountered the temporal diplomat Hieronyma Friend, who has taken on the appearance of his past companions. Will this shady diplomat continue to be a thorn in the Doctor’s side, or will he finally see through her disguise?

This box set features the following four new episodes:

The Only Girl in the World by John Dorney – While searching for Cass, the Doctor and Alex meet her Uncharted universe alternate aboard an old slave spaceship. The swashbuckling and dangerous Cassie is determined to get revenge on the ruthless murderer Mr Karl, who destroyed her homeworld. 

False Dawn by Alison Winter – An invasive species is spreading across the uncharted universe and the Doctor is tasked with investigating what it is and how to stop it. Can he stop this species before the walls between worlds break down.

Council of Susan by Tim Foley – A dangerous barrier prevents the time travellers from going any further, and in their search for a way through, they discover the Council of Susan. All members of this strange organisation know of the mysterious time traveller known as ‘Grandfather’. Is the Doctor and Alex due a family reunion?

All Over by Patrick O’Connor – An empty blue box on the ice and a rundown house on the edge of the Uncharted universe sets the scene for a friendly face as everything gets ready to end.

Paul McGann continues as the Eighth Doctor and is joined by Sonny McGann as Alex, Emma Campbell-Jones as Cass, Carole Ann Ford as Susan, and Daphne Ashbrook as 
Hieronyma Friend. the box set also guest stars Kate Harbour as Roboman/Tarranah, Akbar Kurtha as Tabir, Susan Penhaligon as Sage/The Keeper, Jane Asher as Mother Susan, Amy Rockson as Cardinal Susan, Olivia Woolhouse as Novice Susan, and Robert Fitch as Creature.
