Meeting the in-laws turns dark in trailer for horror-thriller Buzzheart

May 18, 2026 by Amie Cranswick

Coinciding with its digital release this week, Dark Star Pictures has shared a trailer for writer-director Dennis Iliadis’ (The Last House on the Left) upcoming horror-thriller Buzzheart.

Set in 1990s Athens, the film follows Argyris, a shy young man who is invited to meet the family of his beautiful new girlfriend Mary. But their weekend at Mary’s parents secluded home takes a dark turn when they force Argyris into a series of increasingly disturbing tests to prove himself worthy of their daughter.

The cast includes Evelina Papoulia, Giorgos Liantos, Konstantina Messini, and Claudio Kaya. Check out the trailer below…

Buzzheart follows shy 19-year-old Argyris, who finds himself unexpectedly dating Mary—a beautiful and enigmatic young woman seemingly out of his league. When she invites him to her parents’ secluded country home, what begins as an awkward romantic getaway quickly spirals into something far more disturbing. Claiming to protect their fragile daughter, Mary’s parents subject Argyris to a series of increasingly bizarre and brutal tests to prove his worth.

As the weekend unfolds, the family’s deeply dysfunctional dynamics come into focus, trapping Argyris in a twisted psychological game of survival—one where nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted.

Buzzheart is available from May 19th on Digital and VOD.
