Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano developing animated musical feature Prehistoria

June 23, 2026 by Ricky Church

Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss creator Vivienne Medrano is developing Prehistoria, an animated musical feature film for Warner Bros. The studio announced the news at Annecy with Medrano sharing a first-look image of the film’s central character.

Little to no information was given about Prehistoria‘s story or its character, but Medrano described the film as taking place in a “fossil fantasy world.” She also shared on Instagram that the story is an original idea separate from the Hellaverse that she had shelved as she continued developing it.

“Since I began my animation journey, my biggest dream was to be part of a feature film. Now to be creating an original story that I have been holding for years with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, a studio whose characters and stories have been a huge part of my life, is truly a dream come true. I’m So excited to share this fossil fantasy world with everyone,” said Medrano.

Medrano first began Hazbin Hotel in 2019 with a pilot she independently developed and put on YouTube, garnering a lot of attention and fans for the chaotic animated musical adult comedy. The series proper premiered on Prime Video in 2024 with the second season following last year. There is no word on when the third season will premiere, but Prime has already renewed the series for a fourth and fifth season, the latter of which will be its last.

Helluva Boss is a spin-off of Hazbin Hotel and premiered on Medrano’s YouTube channel in 2020. Prime Video remastered the first two seasons and released them on the streaming service last fall with part one of the third season to premiere later this year and part two next year. It has also already been renewed for a third and fourth season and Medrano has teased a crossover between the two series in the future.
