Gen V’s Asa Germann cast as Angel in Marvel’s X-Men reboot

September 13, 2026 by Gary Collinson

After unveiling the initial cast at D23 last month, Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters has enrolled another student with THR reporting that Gen V and Scream 7 star Asa Germann has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot in the role of Warren Worthington III, better known as Angel.

According to the trade’s report, Germann had initially auditioned for the role of Scott Summers/Cyclops in the upcoming film and while he missed out on portraying the X-Men’s field leader, the actor seemingly impressed Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*) enough to be offered the part of the winged mutant Angel.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Angel is an OG member of the X-Men, having debuted as part of the original team line-up in 1963’s The X-Men #1 alongside Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey). The character has also featured in both of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movie timelines, with Ben Foster taking on the role in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and Ben Hardy playing the ‘First Class’ incarnation in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

Marvel’s X-Men movie sees Germann joining a cast that includes returning Spider-Man: Brand New Day star Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, along with Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) as Emma Frost, Kit Connor (Heartstopper) as Cyclops, Inde Navarette (Obsession) as Rogue, newcomer Maya Boyd as Storm, Christopher Abbott (Kraven the Hunter) as Professor Charles Xavier, and Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker) as Nathaniel Milbury/Mister Sinister.

X-Men is set for release on May 5th 2028.
