Marvel’s X-Men reboot announces cast, sets 2028 release date

August 15, 2026 by Gary Collinson

The mutant saga is coming, and after weeks of casting speculation, we finally know who’ll be suiting up alongside Sadie Sink’s Jean Grey as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe incarnation of the X-Men in the upcoming reboot from Marvel Studios.

As part of yesterday’s Marvel presentation at the Disney D23 Expo (which also delivered trailers for Avengers: Doomsday and the Disney+ series VisionQuest), Marvel chief Kevin Feige introduced director Jake Shreier (Thunderbolts*) to the stage alongside the cast, confirming the previously reported Kit Connor as Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost alongside Sadie Sink’s Jean, and revealing Christopher Abbott (Kraven the Hunter) as Professor Charles Xavier, Inde Navarette (Obsession) as Rogue, and newcomer Maya Boyd as Storm.

Closing out the presentation was Adam Driver, who appeared via a video message to confirm his casting – not in the role of Magneto but rather Nathaniel Milbury, an alias of Nathaniel Essex, better known as the supervillain Mister Sinister.

X-Men will kick off the post-Avengers: Secret Wars MCU with a May 5th 2028 release date, joining Ghost Rider and Black Panther III as Marvel’s big screen offerings for 2028. Further castings are expected to be announced soon.
