Gwendoline Christie joins the cast of Top of the Lake Season 2

March 23, 2016 by Gavin Logan

Game of Thrones and Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Gwendoline Christie is set to join the cast of the BBC Two drama Top of the Lake, when it returns for a second season early next year.

Variety have confirmed that Christie will join returning star Elisabeth Moss – who played police detective Robin Griffin in season one – and that Academy Award winning writer/director Jane Campion (The Piano) will be co-writing and directing again.

“I am so delighted to be working on Top of the Lake 2…Jane Campion has been a major creative influence throughout my life”, Christie continued “I could not feel more privileged to be working on the next installment of her unique and enthralling drama, alongside the brilliant Elisabeth Moss.”

No word yet on who Gwendoline Christie will be playing but season two is set to see Moss’s character investigate a mysterious murder four years after the disappearance of 12-year-old Tui in season one.

Moss, who won a Golden Globe in 2014 for her performance said, “I’m so excited to be back in Australia working with Jane on exploring this wonderful character. I can’t wait for audiences to see where we take Robin’s journey!”
