Robb Ghag reviews Detective Comics #26…
“Batman works to contain a swarm of genetically altered killer bats, as well as She-Bat and other humans who have been mutated into bat-people”
First and foremost, this issue of Detective Comics has one of the most memorable covers to a Batman comic in recent history. Jason Fabok does an incredible job, and it is definitely a cover that will play in the minds of Batman readers everywhere.
The story Crown of Fear, again revisits Kirk Langstrom and the Man-Bat serum. You may recall from issue #19 when sections of Gotham were over run by gigantic Man-Bats and Batman with the help of Langstrom, suppressed the infection of the populace.
This time Kirk Langstrom and Batman team up to face off against yet another Man-Bat. The artwork is great throughout this storyline and Lopresti and Thiebert do a great job, with both the battle sequences, and the cave scenes.
The story is a little flat, but wraps up nicely, getting readers anticipating Batman Detective Comics #27.
