Ben Affleck has penned a Batman movie script

March 30, 2016 by Justin Cook

Despite the mixed reception to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice among audiences, DC fans who love and loathe the film can probably agree on one thing: the DC Extended Universe can benefit from having more Ben Affleck. An increase of Affleck either in front of the camera, as his performance as Bruce Wayne/Batman is one of the clear bright spots of Dawn of Justice, or behind the camera, as Affleck has proven himself as a skilled director in the past, helming Argo to an Best Picture win at the Academy Awards, would most likely result in higher quality DC superhero films.

Rumors have been floating around for quite some time now that Affleck is working on his own Batman solo movie with DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns, which will come out within the next few years, and although nothing has been confirmed by Warner Bros., a recent interview has revealed some major details about Affleck’s future with DC.

While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter about Affleck, William Morris Endeavor (a talent agency that represents the actor) co-CEO Patrick Whitesell said, “He’s contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape. He added, “There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”

At this point, it’s common knowledge that Affleck will also be making a cameo in this August’s Suicide Squad as the Caped Crusader, so he will at least pop-up in a total of four DC movies, but more is likely. Also, if he has already written a full draft of a Batman solo movie script, the film’s release may not be so far off, so once the movie is officially announced (which one would assume it eventually will be), fans can look forward to that.
