The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons to headline magic comedy Man-Witch

April 1, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons is set to star in a new magic comedy entitled Man-Witch.

The actor, who plays genius physicist Sheldon Cooper in the massively successful sitcom, is in talks for the lead role in the film which has been on Warner Bros. production list for over ten years. Parsons will also be a producer on the film, working alongside Neal Moritz (Fast and Furious franchise).

Man-Witch was first pitched to the studio back in 2005 with The Hangover director Todd Phillips attached, and such names as Jack Black (Goosebumps) and Phillips’ Hangover star Zach Galifianakis linked to the lead. The story reportedly tells the story of “a schoolteacher (Parsons) who abruptly discovers he’s got witchlike powers. A coven of real witches takes him in, promptly sending him to “witch school,” where he is the lone adult, surrounded by little girl witches-in-training.”

Despite being one of television’s most recognisable actors, Parsons has made only a handful of film appearances since the show started, having featured in Ryan Murphy’s acclaimed TV movie The Normal Heart, Wish I Was Here with Zach Braff and voicing Oh in last year’s animated hit Home.
