Ryan Reynolds in talks for The Rosie Project

April 8, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in talks to star in the upcoming romantic comedy drama The Rosie Project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project has been floating around Hollywood for a while now, with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) previously attached before dropping out last year due to scheduling conflicts, while director Richard Linklater (Everybody Wants Some) was also linked.

Despite the setbacks, producers Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan are still keen on bringing the film to the screen, and are said to be close to getting Reynolds signed on. Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber (500 Days of Summer) have written the script.

The Rosie Project, based on the book by Graeme Simsion, “tells the story of a socially inept genetics professor who comes up with a scientifically sound survey to find the perfect mate. His plans go awry when he meets Rosie Jarman, who in her whirlwind manner possesses all the opposite qualities he should be looking for.”

Reynolds will next be seen in Criminal opposite Kevin Costner, which opens this month, before starring in The Hitman’s Bodyguard, where he co-stars with Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman.
