Fran Kranz joins The Dark Tower as Pimli

April 22, 2016 by Scott J. Davis

The cast of the long-awaited Stephen King adaptation The Dark Tower has swelled again this week with the news that actor Fran Kranz (The Cabin in the Woods) has joined the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kranz, who has also featured in Dollhouse, Much Ado About Nothing and Mojave, is set to play Pimli, the right-hand man of The Man in Black, played in the film by Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey (Interstellar).

The film is based on the long-running and hugely successful fantasy series of books by Stephen King, which follows a Roland the Gunslinger (Idris Elba) “who is the last hope of the fallen land of Mid-World. He is charged with finding the Dark Tower while battling his nemesis the Man in Black.”

Ron Howard and Brian Grazer (Inferno) are producing the film, with Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair) directing. Also featuring in the cast are Tom Taylor (Doctor Foster) as Jake Chambers, Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Tirana and Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen) as Richard Sayre.

The Dark Tower is set for release on February 17th 2017.
