Comic Book Review – Black Science #6

April 30, 2014 by Villordsutch

Villordsutch reviews Black Science #6 …

Stranded in the most dangerous dimension yet, Grant McKay’s rage at his onetime boss boils over. Ignoring the chaos all around them, the two finally come to blows! Only one thing is certain: before the Pillar makes its next jump…one of them must die! Don’t miss the conclusion to the first arc of the world’s most mind-melting sci-fi comic!

Well we come to the last piece of the first arc to Black Science until July 2014 and I’m unsure if I going to be able to wait these few short months as this has been and amazing treat that has been delivered too us in such a short amount of time.

We left the last issue with Grant approaching our recent Pillar saboteur Kadir and both of them taking a nose dive straight down the centre of a frozen volcano, with the rest of the team looking on helpless.  I’ll give you a minor spoiler here by revealing that both survive the fall, however I shall reveal nothing more of the story except that you come out of this issue utterly breathless and if you’re like myself you’ll find yourself swearing quietly to yourself with the story the closing of this very powerful, final arc.

Once again it’s the outstanding talents behind this from the spark of genius in the writing department with Rick Remender (co-creator) as well as Matteo Scalera (other co-creator) and Dean White for the art department, for this is sheer perfection; the opening page says it all as the inhabitant of the Volcano’s face occupies the whole page and you observe both Grant and Kadir’s descending brawl in its large, round, orange opal of an eyeball.

If you didn’t manage to get any of the past issues of Black Science I would whole-heartedly recommend that you hunt them out as these are something you’ll want to treasure.  Never afraid of using their imagination, they are aware that the rule book belongs to them and nobody else.  July, you need to be here now!

Villordsutch likes his sci-fi and looks like a tubby Viking according to his children. Visit his website and follow him on Twitter.
