Sony planning The Amazing Spider-Man spin-offs

Sony has The Amazing Spider-Man 2 set for release next year, with The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 4 already announced for 2016 and 2018 respectively, and now Sony Pictures Entertainment Co-Chairman Amy Pascal has hinted towards numerous spin-offs which  would introduce a host of new characters from the Spider-Man mythos.

Speaking to The Wrap, Pascal revealed, “we are going to access Marvel’s full world of Spider-Man characters, so be on the lookout for new heroes and villains.” Meanwhile Sony Pictures Entertainment Chief Michael Lynton has told investors that, “We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man. There are a number of scripts in the works [and we are] working closely with Marvel and Disney.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will introduce a plethora of villains including Electro (Jamie Foxx), The Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and the Green Goblin (Chris Cooper) confirmed and Black Cat, The Vulture and Carnage all rumoured to appear. The film is set to hit cinemas on May 2nd 2014, with Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker / Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy) and Sally Field (Aunt May) returning to the cast alongside franchise newcomers Dane DeHaan (Chronicle), Colm Feore (Thor) and Felicity Jones (Like Crazy).
