Prince William launches BAFTA campaign

November 20, 2013 by admin

Prince William was at BAFTA to promote a new campaign to encourage young people from all backgrounds to aspire to get into the film, television, and video game industries.  Entitled Give Something Back, the idea is that BAFTA members and winners to share their knowledge of the industry and craft through sccholarships, lectures, and internships.

The Duke of  Cambridge visited BAFTA headquarters and stopped by a game design workshop with London school students who were part of the Young Game Designers Initiative.  He later gave a speech for the launch and said:

“I sincerely hope everyone working in the UK film, television, and game industries will support this fantastic new initiative…. Give Something Back is a special opportunity for our supremely talented proffessionals to offer a small amount of their time or money, to contribute to BAFTA’s learning programme.”

This is great news and will hopefully help to cut down on the tragic amount of young programmers, writers, designers, and directors who will never get a chance to display their talent due to lack of resources.  Prince William always seemed like a nice guy, but this confirms my thoughts on him.  Coolest Prince Ever. Will any of our U.K. readers be looking to take advantage of this programme? Let us know in the comments…
