CBS orders a pilot for HIMYM spin-off How I Met Your Dad

November 16, 2013 by admin

Last month, it was rumoured that CBS was considering a spin-off for the hit comedy series How I Met Your Mother and now it’s been confirmed that the network has placed a pilot production commitment for How I Met Your Dad. The spin-off is being written and executive-produced by How I Met Your Mother creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays, along with Up All Night creator Emily Spivey, and will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television.

According to Deadline, HIMYD is “described as a kindred spirit of How I Met Your Mother telling the story from a female point of view [with] a brand-new story with new characters and a new voice at its center. Linking the new group of New York friends and the HIMYM gang will be Ted, Barney, Marshall, Lily and Robin’s favorite hangout, MacLaren’s Pub, which also will be featured on the new show.”

CBS is currently airing the ninth and final season of HIMYM, with the show set to come to an early next year.
