First details on the Aquaman animated movie

May 17, 2014 by Gary Collinson

We’ve known for a while now that Warner Bros. has plans for an animated Aquaman feature as part of its DC Universe Animated Original Movies line, which of course was teased during the end credits of Justice League: War, and now thanks to Newsarama we’ve got some minor details on the feature.

According to the site, the movie will have “Aquaman” in the title somewhere, and will be set in the same New 52-inspired universe as Justice League: War and the subsequent Son of Batman. They go on to report that Sam Witwer (Being Human) will lend his voice to Orm, Aquaman’s brother, and that “the film will likely be something of a New 52 origin story for Aquaman, meaning sources tell us at the start of the film he won’t know much, if anything, about his connection to Atlantis, his place in their royal family, and his destiny to be their king.”

DC’s next animated feature Batman: Assault on Arkham is due out in August [watch the trailer here], so we should probably expect official news on the next round of animated DC movies during Comic-Con in July.
