From Titan Comics comes a series of comic stories that serve as prequels to the Heroes Reborn television show on NBC. They plan on coming out with several five issue character studies. The first of which was Heroes: Vengeance (check out my reviews of#1,#2,#3,#4, #5) and focused on El Vengador. The second is called Heroes: Godsend and is about Farah Nazan.
Issue #1 introduced Farah Nazan and showed how she discovered her powers. Issue #2 shows us how she gets introduced to Angela Petrelli and is assigned her mission to protect Malina. The main storyline of issue #3 is Farah breaking Daniel Linderman out of prison so he can heal Malina. Issue #4 has her investigating the mysterious company that is buying up land in her neighborhood. A giant bald man knocks her out and kidnaps her friend Jamal who has been revealed to be an EVO.
The concluding issue sees Farah facing up to her fears after being severely beaten by the giant bald man and goes to face him. He beats her until she’s almost senseless and then tell her that he challenged her to the fight to distract her while the last two buildings he needed to complete the land grab were rigged to go up in flames with Jamal trapped inside. Just as he’s about to kill her, her friends show up, including HRG, the Haitian and Angela Petrelli. With his powers blocked, the giant bald man is revealed to be the female owner of the company buying up all the property. She is taken into custody by Primatech and placed in a holding cell with her powers mitigated. At the very end we see Farah get into a care with Angela and given tickets to go to Kabul where her parents are alive and ready to see her. So ends volume one.
This issue has a breakdown of the way the two covers were done- the main cover and the variant cover, which when put together form a complete picture. Heroes are on one side and villains on the other, making for a good guy main cover and a bad guy variant cover. There’s also a handy guide to who’s who on the cover. This issue was lacking in bonus features at the end. Usually there are two to three, sometimes four features, including side boxes, but not this time. I was hoping for a tease of who the next five issue series would focus on, but to no avail.
This concluding issue was just okay for me. There wasn’t a lot of plot to this one and other than the surprise bad guy reveal and the parent reveal. The comic book was skimpy on extra features and didn’t share any details on who the next series would feature. For these reasons I give the final issue in the arc a 7 out of 10.
