Despite Lucasfilm and Gareth Edwards putting on a brave face at Star Wars Celebration, it seems there may be more drama behind-the-scenes of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, with The Hollywood Reporter claiming that Tony Gilroy (The Bourne Legacy) has taken the lead on post-production on the December Anthology movie.
Back in June, it was revealed that Gilroy had been brought in to assist Edwards on reshoots. However, THR is reporting that Gilroy was the “driving force” behind the reshoots, and is now “supervising” the edit of the movie. Nevertheless, Edwards is still involved in post-production, with the site’s source reportedly stating that: “There are not two separate editing rooms; they are all in there with their ideas. Tony’s a strong force, but they’re all working together.”
The behind-the-scenes drama is unlikely to do much to ease any lingering fan concerns stemming from the original reshoots. Fortunately there’s still time for Lucasfilm to address any issues, and Gilroy is certainly experienced in this role, having performed similar duties on The Bourne Identity, as well as assisting Edwards on Godzilla.
