CBS eyeing spin-off for How I Met Your Mother

November 2, 2013 by admin

With How I Met Your Mother set to end after its current season, CBS is looking at the possibility of a spin-off. The possible series would take the same basic premise of Mother, only this time it would feature a female in the lead. Series creators / executive producers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas along with Up All Night creator/executive producer Emily Spivey are all currently involved with the spin-off which right now is being called How I Met Your Father.

The new show would feature a new group of friends in New York and focus on a female member and her quest to meet her future husband. There is a possibility the new characters could show up on How I Met Your Mother sometime in its final season but nothing has been confirmed.

Once How I Met Your Mother ends CBS will be losing its biggest Monday night comedy. So its no wonder why they would want to develop a similar show to more than likely put in its place and hopefully gain the same audience. If the creators can get likable actors with great chemistry like they were fortunate to get on HIMYM, then a spin-off may actually work out.
