Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan set for Paul Dano’s directorial debut Wildlife

September 26, 2016 by Gary Collinson

Variety is reporting that Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan have signed on to star in Wildlife, which marks the directorial debut of actor Paul Dano.

Based on Richard Ford’s novel, Wildlife ” tells the tale of a boy who witnesses his parents’ marriage falling apart after his mom finds another man.” In addition to directing, Dano has co-written the script by Zoe Kazan.

“In Richard’s book I saw myself and many others,” said Dano. “I have always wanted to make films — and have always known I would make films about family. I couldn’t be happier to have such beautiful collaborators like Carey and Jake leading the way.”

“Paul is a natural born storyteller — a force,” added producers Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks. “We are thrilled to collaborate with him and these phenomenal actors to bring his exquisite vision for this film to life.”

Gyllenhaal’s latest film Nocturnal Animals premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this month, while Mulligan was most recently seen in Suffragette, which opened last October.
